The red-hot Portland Trail Blazers attempt to extend their winning streak to six games when they host the struggling Utah Jazz tonight at the Rose Garden.
This is the second meeting of the campaign between the squads. On December 11th, Martell Webster scored 25 points, including a 5-of-8 effort from beyond the arc, as Portland downed Utah, 97-89, at EnergySolutions Arena.
The Trail Blazers have won three of the last four contests in the series. Utah has lost two straight after winning its last two at Portland.
Portland has won a season-best five in a row and plays the finale of a two- game homestand. On Wednesday, Brandon Roy scored 21 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out seven assists to lead the Trail Blazers to a 105-95 win over the Golden State Warriors at the Rose Garden.
Travis Outlaw scored 22 points and Joel Przybilla finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the win for the Trail Blazers.
The Trail Blazers are 8-3 at home this season. They will visit the Denver Nuggets on Sunday at the Pepsi Center.
Utah enters tonight's contest on a season-worst five-game losing streak. On Wednesday, Steve Nash scored 29 points and dished out 11 assists to lead the Phoenix Suns to a 103-98 win over the Jazz at US Airways Center.
Carlos Boozer scored 24 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in the loss for Utah, which has dropped five straight after a three-game winning streak. Paul Millsap, playing in place of injured center Mehmet Okur, scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while Deron Williams netted 18 points and Andrei Kirilenko scored 17 for the Jazz.
Okur, who is averaging 12.2 points and 5.0 rebounds this season, did not play against Phoenix because of a strained shoulder. He is questionable for tonight's contest.
The Jazz are 5-8 on the road this season. They will host rookie phenom Kevin Durant and the Seattle SuperSonics on Saturday at EnergySolutions Arena.
